Participation Guide & Family Agreement

This Participation Guide and Agreement outlines Mastery Mindset’s expectations for students and families enrolling in a virtual Study Skills Course. Please review carefully. A signed agreement is required prior to enrollment.

Course Overview

Courses are designed to help students strengthen organization, time management, attention, and learning strategies. Instruction will be delivered virtually, with an emphasis on active participation, respectful behavior, and consistent attendance.

Student Participation Expectations

Students enrolled in this course are expected to:

  • Attend sessions on time and remain present for the full duration.

  • Log in prepared with required materials (e.g. notebook, pencil, handouts).

  • Participate actively and appropriately, including responding when called on and engaging in activities.

  • Follow virtual classroom norms, including keeping the camera on during instruction, muting/unmuting appropriately, and using the chat responsibly.

  • Use respectful behavior with the instructor and peers at all times.

  • Remain focused on the lesson, avoiding unrelated websites, games, or devices during class time.

  • Use polite language at all times. A safe learning environment is a top priority. Vulgar language, including profanity, will not be tolerated.

Note: Support will be given for students with adverse behaviors. Failure to meet participation or behavior expectations despite support may lead to discussion about continued participation or removal from the course if concerns persist.

Attendance Policy
  • Students are expected to attend each scheduled session.

  • Students should log in on time. Late arrivals disrupt instruction.

  • If it is preferred that the student’s camera remain off during instruction, please provide notice so the instructor is aware.

  • Tardiness or absences will impact the student’s satisfactory progress.

Technology & Learning Environment

Families agree to support students by:

  • Ensuring the Zoom application is up-to-date.

  • Providing access to a reliable internet connection and a functioning device.

  • Ensuring the student participates in a quiet, distraction-free learning space.

  • Troubleshooting technical issues to ensure optimal participation.

Home Support Expectations

Home support is essential for student success. Families are encouraged to:

  • Reinforce the importance of punctuality, participation, and respectful behavior.

  • Help students apply study skills strategies outside of class when appropriate.

  • Communicate questions or concerns with the instructor in a timely and respectful manner.
